NEW YEAR EDITION | JANUARY 2026

A Message from the AALU National President

Greetings and Happy New Year Lions,

I hope and pray that your holiday was peaceful and the new year brings you much joy! As always thank you for supporting the National Alumni Association of Lincoln University (AALU).  We have a lot to be thankful for in the midst of all the challenges facing us.  I hope that you will take 60 minutes out of your schedule and join us on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 3-4 pm for our prayer service - it's still not too late to register by clicking HERE

The Executive Committee has approved the Gulf States Alumni Chapter (AL, FL, LA, MS, TX).  We are thankful for the leadership of Michael Taylor ‘95 and his team for establishing the chapter.  We look forward to working with them in 2026 and beyond.

We had a great time during the AALU All Inclusive in October - see the video HERE.  Join us on February 27, 2026 as we host in conjunction with the Baltimore Metro Chapter another memorable event during CIAA - our featured DJ will be Baltimore's Own DJ Tanz - tickets will go on sale very soon!  Hotel reservations are still being accepted for the CIAA Tournament - the host hotel for Lincoln is the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Baltimore, MD - obtain more information HERE

Lastly, plans are underway for our annual Golf Invitational being held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Deerfield Golf Course in Newark, DE.   This event is our major fundraiser where we provide proceeds to the 1854 Promise Fund.  With your support we were recently able to provide $40,000 to the fund.  Our 2026 goal is $100,000 - we need your assistance - please review the sponsorship deck HERE and register for the Invitational on our website at aalupa.org/golf

Let's continue to have a prosperous 2026 and support Lincoln University.   Take care and I hope to see you at one of our upcoming events.

Hail, Hail, Lincoln!

Sincerely,

Dr. Eric J, Becoats '88

President

Michael C. Taylor Sr.’95  has been appointed to the National Advisory Committee (NAC) for the College Board’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Conference, a premier professional development event dedicated to the sustainability of HBCUs and the success of African American students.

The 2026 HBCU Conference will take place in March 2026 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in conjunction with A Dream Deferred: The Future of African American Education Conference. Over three days, the event will convene HBCU leaders, K–12 educators, policymakers, and advocates to address pressing challenges and opportunities in higher education.

As a member of the NAC, Taylor will help shape the vision and content of the conference, which is:

  • A three-day professional development event specifically designed for HBCU professionals and advocates.
  • A platform to discuss new solutions, share best practices, and collaborate with colleagues to increase efficiency in managing enrollment and improving student outcomes.
  • An opportunity to witness groundbreaking innovation when education professionals work together to increase access and opportunity for African American students.

“This appointment is both an honor and a responsibility,” said Taylor. “HBCUs remain a cornerstone of opportunity, leadership, and innovation for African American students and communities. I am humbled to contribute to the work of ensuring their continued impact and legacy.”

Taylor brings over 20 years of leadership in admissions and enrollment management, having served in multiple executive roles across higher education. His expertise in supporting access initiatives and supporting underrepresented students underscores his commitment to the mission of HBCU’s.
