Honorary Chairman Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe is one of the great pioneers in professional golf. Currently playing on the PGA Champions Tour, his legendary success is grounded in his love for the game and his perseverance to achieve even when it was difficult to find golf courses allowing African Americans to play. Affectionately known as “Thorpie”, he attended Morgan State University before turning pro in 1972, beating Jack Nicklaus by three strokes at the Greater Milwaukee Open in 1985. Thorpe has finished 1st on the Champions Tour 13 times. He serves as the Ambassador to Tobago's Junior Golf Academy in Trinidad and is dedicated to activities to increase the number of minority golfers to the sport.
